Injured Broadway Actor Christopher Tierney Walks Again!

b

Some might call it a Christmas miracle. Christopher Tierney was back up on his feet, just five days after taking a 30-ft fall during a production of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark.
The stunt actor is still in his hospital's Intensive Care Unit  but his father Tim Tierney says Christopher is anxious to return to the role despite injuries that had some worried he'd spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair.
Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark was still in previews when the 31-year-old Tierney, despite wearing a safety harness, fell into the stage orchestra pit.
Christopher walked for the first time since his fall on Friday, following back surgery, and spent Christmas with his mother and brother at the hospital, Tim Tierney, told The Associated Press.
Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, with music by Bono and The Edge, is being mounted with a stunning $65 million price tags.  But the money being spent hasn't prevented three previous injuries and an opening night that's been delayed a month..
Christopher "just felt so blessed to be part of this whole creative process, and he just cannot wait to get back and perform in the show," his father told AP.
Christopher's injuries include four broken ribs, a hairline skull fracture, cracks in three vertebrae and internal bleeding.
He is expected to remain in the ICU until at least Monday.  Then the hard work of rehabilitation will begin

Lil Kim Explains History Behind Nicki Minaj Beef, Says She's Open To Collaborating?

Lil Kim and Nicki Minaj, that's the topic that continues to discussed, especially when both rappers are interviewed. Recently, Kim sat with Angie Martinez on New York's Hot 97 radio station, where -- of course -- she was asked to address the situation between her and the Young Money First Lady. According to the pint-sized Notorious B.I.G. protege, Nicki started the whole situation, but she's finishing it and doesn't plan to let up. At least, any time soon.
"In this industry, what I've learned is you never know. That's what I've learned in this industry. You just don't pick fights, and you don't pick fights with Kimmy Blanco 'cause I'm not taking my foot off her neck," Kim said. "You started this. I hope you ready for this."
Later, however, Kim revealed that she is open to doing a song with the female rap newcomer. But, only for the right price. "I would do a song with her ... for the right price," Kim said with a smile. "$7 million -- that's my favorite number. $7 million, maybe."
Kim went on to reveal that when Nicki Minaj initially hooked up with Lil Wayne and the Cash Money Records family, she was hanging around them, contemplating whether to sign with the label herself. And, at the time, was willing to help Nicki shine.
"I went over there. People don't know this," Kim revealed. "I was over with Cash Money and them. Slim (Cash Money co-founder) was putting me in the studio... I was over there, in a couple of their sessions. I never see her, or Drake. I was saw Wayne and everybody else. So my thing is, I was getting ready to be allies and in their family. I didn't have a problem with that. My whole thing was, as a business woman, this would be good for people to see me with her. It would be good for her, to see that I'm willing to come over and rock with you. I don't have no beef with you shorty at the end of the day. Beef is serious.
"With me being over there, [Nicki] was like 'Yo, I wanna do a record with you'. I was like 'Let's do it, let's make it big' because in my eyes, I needed that exposure as far as music is concerned," she continued.
The track collaboration Kim is referring to was "Everywhere We Go." But, Kim claims that the lukewarm response to Minaj's performance on the track upset the Cash Money executives, who pulled it from iTunes quickly. After that, she says Cash Money ceased communication with her, and then, she realized she was used.
"They kind of used me to stamp it, because they knew that they were gonna kinda steal my swag," she told radio listeners. "Like 'You know what? Kim's cool with her looking like her, taking her whole style and swag. Kim's cool with this.' ... If you are going to steal my swag, you gonna have to pay. Something gotta give. You help me, I help you. That's how it goes to me."
After all this took place behind the scenes, Kim claims Nicki started throwing "subliminal shots" her way on songs. Still, she had no problem with her. That was until they saw each other in public and Nicki ignored her, refusing to address their tension.
"She looked right at me, had her head down, rolled her eyes and kept walking. You see me, say something," Kim explained.
Although Nicki had previously said she didn't feel the need to address her beef with female rappers by name, she released the track "Roman's Revenge," which many believed to be a clear stab at Kim, although she didn't mention her by name. In retaliation, Kim dropped the diss record, "Black Friday," a play off Nicki's debut albumPink Friday.
Nicki Minaj has since addressed Kim, in her own interview with Angie Martinez. During her chat, she basically called the rap vet "a sore loser," explaining that their public beef is helping revive Kim's career, but said she needs to "get a life" if she's bitter.

Nicollette Sheridan Drops Explosive Lawsuit Claims

Nicollette Sheridan is dropping the most explosive claims from her lawsuit against her formerDesperate Housewives employers and as a result she will not have to submit to a psychiatric evaluation, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively.
In April, Sheridan sued the show’s creator Marc Cherry, Touchstone Television Productions, ABC Studios, and ABC entertainment for $20 million in relation to her firing. She alleged assault and battery, emotional distress, gender violence and wrongful termination- all claims ABC said were “without merit.”
In papers filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on December 17, Sheridan dropped claims of physical injury and emotional distress. As  a result, the defense has agreed to drop its request for a psychiatric and physical examination. Both parties stipulated to this agreement and the case will continue without those causes of action after a judge signs the stipulation.
Sheridan alleged that she suffered and CONTINUES to suffer physical injury and emotional distress. The defense countered by demanding a physical and psychiatric evaluation.
Now, however, Sheridan has avoided the physical and psych eval by dropping the key claims. In the new filing she maintains those claims are still valid but she wants to streamline the case. The defense agreed.
Sheridan still has the right to pursue lost wages, benefits and other financial compensation as the case goes forward.

Waka Flaka mom Debra Antney Says Prostitution Not Involved In Raid

Waka Flocka’s home was raided by Henry County authorities Thursday (December 16) and two people, Johan Michael Antney, 20, and Tyrell Raylon Mingo, 20, were arrested for possession of less than an ounce of Marijuana, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

When the news first broke, TMZ reported that the raid was in connection with suspected prostitution. But the southern rapper’s mother, Debra Antney, has come forward to deny that there is a prostitution link. She did however confirm that two weapons; a Kel Tech .223 caliber sub gun and a Taurus .40 caliber semi automatic, according to Henry country police Major Jason Balton, were licensed.

“It had nothing to do with prostitution,” said Antney to MTV News. “The weapons they found were licensed weapons. There was under an ounce of marijuana but it was nothing but a blunt. The other drugs were medication that was in Waka’s room from when he got hurt.”

Antney also said that she plans to take legal action against the officers. “There’s nothing going on for you to kick a door in,” she added. “We were really surprised, but the neighbours always watch. We live in a country club, so they always watch, they always assume.”

Gucci Mane, who was in the home at the time, was cuffed but later released. Neither he norAntney, the CEO of Mizay Entertainment, were charged. Waka was not at the residence at the time of the raid.

LA Lakers' Ron Artest Launches New Record Label

Los Angeles Lakers baller Ron Artest has launched an independent record label. The newly formed Artest Media Group will be distributed by the San Francisco based company SMC Recordings. This is the star forward’s second venture since starting the Tru Warier imprint in 2002.

“I am really happy to partner with SMC, this will be my first real shot of getting the music of myself and my new artists out,” Ron Artest said. “I love music and I love my fans so I am looking forward to sharing this with them.”

Ralph Tashjian, SMC Recordings’ CEO shared his excitement about the joint venture. “Partnering with Ron Artest and his Artest Media Group puts us in an incredible position for acquiring new artists. Ron’s passion for the music and entertainment business, as well as his incredible reach to already established Hip-Hop acts, makes this a perfect marriage.”

Artest Media Group is looking to develop the talent currently with the label and sign established Hip-Hop artists. Ron Artest will announce artists signed to the roster in early 2011.

The first major project was just completed by the company, which was the launch ofRonArtest.com. It is a multimedia website that highlights all of his entertainment businesses

Chrisette Michelle Facing $20 Million Lawsuit

Chrisette Michele and Def Jam will head back to court to face a $20 million lawsuit levied against them by her former production company, Four Kings Productions Inc. Earlier in the month, the label had asked the court to dismiss the 2008 suit but judges have denied the petition.

Douglas “Biggs” Ellison, the owner of the Queens-based production company, has accused the R&B singer, Island Def Jam Music Group, and her parents Lynette and Lemuel Payne of committing unlawful business practices in order to remove her from an exclusive contract she had signed with his company.

Four Kings had entered into an agreement with Def Jam in September of 2005 and worked on several songs that appeared on the singer’s debut album. However problems arose after her mother “quit her job as a teacher and in willful disregard of the artist’s contractual obligations to Four Kings, usurped management functions regarding her daughter’s newly found success, in an effort to keep the money in the family,” says Ellison in his complaint.

Michele then filed a lawsuit in 2007 against Four Kings and accused him of embezzling money from her Def Jam contract and harassing her; charges he insists though patently false were used in an attempt to harm his reputation. She eventually withdrew the allegations but Ellisonsays the damage had already been done.

Shortly after Ellison’s suit was filed two years ago, Michele’s publicist, Rochelle Brown, spoke with AllHipHop.com and said that the complaint was the result of a “jilted lover and gold digging manager getting caught.”

“The Payne’s and Mr. Berry did not unlawfully try to get Chrisette out of her contract with Four Kings,” said Brown. “Mr. Ellison’s devious plot to exploit and rip Chrisette off began to be revealed.”

Arrest Warrant Issued For Floyd Mayweather

An arrest warrant has been issued for pro-boxer Floyd Mayweather.
The athlete has been in recent headlines for a number of issues including reports of domestic violence and a restraining order being placed against him.
Now police are on the hunt for Money Mayweather again, this time for a battery charge.
As previously reported, a security guard claimed that the athlete assaulted him when he used his finger to strike him in the face.
According to TMZ, a judge originally issued -- and then immediately recalled a warrant for his arrest after a hearing on December 7.
Now after complaints from the prosecution that Floyd was receiving preferential treatment, the warrant has been reissued.
Mayweather faces six months in jail and a $1,000 fine if convicted.

50 Cent Sued Over 'I Get Money

50 Cent has been hit with a copyright infringement lawsuit by an aspiring rapper based in Atlanta, Georgia. Tyrone “Caliber” Simmons is accusing the New York MC of knowingly stealing a beat that he brought for exclusive use from producer William “Apex” Stanberry to create the hit 2007 single I Get Money for his third LP The Massacre.

Simmons, who filed the suit in the United States District Court, Eastern District of New York, also named Stanberry, his company Apex Productions, LLC., Universal Music Group, Inc., Interscope Records, Aftermath Entertainment, Shady Records, and G-Unit Records.

A representative from 50 Cent’s record company declined comment, according to theAssociated Press. But the attorneys representing Simmons released a statement denouncing the alleged infringement.

“The misappropriation of copyright-protected material is an endemic problem in the music business, and particularly in the genre of hip-hop/rap,” said Louis D. Tambaro, an attorney from the New Jersey-based law firm Marks & Klein, LLP.

“This is one such case. Our client was granted exclusive rights to the I Get Money instrumental and was unceremoniously cut out of the loop when the defendants realized they had a huge hit on their hands.”

Simmons is asking for an unspecified amount in damages.

Amar’e Stoudemire and Amber Rose?

Amar’e Stoudemire recovered from Wednesday night’s heartbreaking loss to the Boston Celtics by cozying up to Kanye West’s ex-flame, Amber Rose. The Knicks power forward left Madison Square Garden with curvaceous Rose after the game and partied with her at Midtown lounge Covet, and they left together at 2 a.m.
Bald, bodacious Rose attended the game with a friend and taped a viral video Tuesday night to encourage fans to vote Stoudemire to the NBA All-Star team. Sources told Page Six that Rose and Stoudemire arrived at Covet with two friends around 12:30 a.m. “He had his arm around her shoulders when they walked in,” reported a spy. Amar’e and Amber sat very close to one another at a table with two friends of Rose’s.

Christina Aguilera & Her New Guy Share Christmas Spirit

Christina Aguilera and her new guy Matt Rutler went seasonally traditional in Germany on Thursday, strolling through Berlin's elegant Christmas Market – all hot on the heels of their European travels, first to a London nightspot, then to a Paris strip club.

In the German city, with the premiere of her movie Burlesque about to take place with 1,000 fans already gathered outside the cinema, the couple meandered through the market stands and booths, even stopping to purchase some sugared almonds. Staving off the subfreezing cold, they also shared some hot mulled wine.

Decked out in miniskirt and black-and-white checkered lumberjack shirt under a large down parka, Aguilera went largely unrecognized during the hour's visit.

Then came show time, and the couple quickly returned to their hotel to change for the red carpet.

In a low-cut, hot pink halter-top dress, Aguilera again braved the cold – this time alongside her screen costar Cher.

LAPD Releases 180 Photos in 'Grim Sleeper' Case

(Dec. 16) -- Authorities in California are hoping the release of nearly 200 photos found in the possession of a suspected serial killer will prompt people to come forward with information.

The photos are among thousands that police recovered from the home ofLonnie Franklin Jr., a 57-year-old retired auto mechanic who was arrestedin July, after DNA evidence allegedly linked him to the killings of 10 women that occurred from 1985 to 1988 and from 2002 to 2007.

All of the victims were black, and many were prostitutes. The victims were shot with a handgun or strangled. Their bodies were dumped in alleyways and trash bins, authorities said.

A Los Angeles police officer prepares to release photographs found in the possession of Lonnie David Franklin Jr. before a news conference in Los Angeles, Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010.
Jae C. Hong, AP
Los Angeles police are releasing 180 photos found in the possession of "Grim Sleeper" suspect Lonnie David Franklin Jr.
The serial killer was nicknamed the "Grim Sleeper" because of his unexplained 14-year hiatus.

The 180 photos were released this afternoon during a news conference and will remain available to the public on the police department's website. Some of the photos are duplicates, and police aren't sure exactly how many different people are represented in them.

"These people are not suspects. We don't even know if they are victims, but we do know this Lonnie Franklin's reign of terror in the city of Los Angeles was spanned well over two decades, culminating with almost a dozen murder victims. Certainly this to be investigated further," LAPD Chief Charlie Beck said.

Authorities have spent months trying to identify the women in the photos, police said. Now they are hoping the public will be able to recognize some of them.

"People must remember these photos go back 20 and 30 years. People will have changed their appearance and people will have aged," Beck said. "We are very interested in identifying these individuals and speaking with them, if it all possible."
In August, Franklin pleaded not guilty to 10 counts of murder and one count of attempted murder that involved a near-fatal assault on a woman who was raped, shot and left for dead in November 1988.

Franklin has been held without bail since his arrest. He could receive the death penalty if he is convicted.

A preliminary hearing in the case is set for Jan. 31.

Stem Cell Transplant Cures HIV In German Man

Doctors in Germany believe they've made a pivotal medical break-through and are announcing that they've cured a man of HIV/AIDS.
Timothy Ray Brown, also known as the "Berlin Patient," received a stem cell transplant in 2007 as part of a lengthy treatment course for leukemia.
Now the doctors who treated Brown have published a report in medical journal “The Blood” affirming that extensive follow-up testing "strongly suggest that cure of HIV infection has been achieved."
Brown is the first person to ever be declared cured of HIV, and is pushing science to further the sometimes-controversial study of stem cells.
Brown, who previously stayed out of the spotlight, will cover the next issue of Stern Magazine under the headline, "The Man Who Defeated The HIV."

Man Pulls Out Gun and Opens Fire During School Board Meeting

(Dec. 15) -- Clay Duke, the Florida gunman who opened fire at a school board, ranted against the rich in what appears to have been a final manifesto on Facebook.

Duke, a 56-year-old ex-convict, was mentally ill and had been planning the attack for some time, police said today.

Dec. 14, the date of the shooting, was circled on a calendar in Duke's mobile home, Panama City Police Chief John Van Etten said, according to The Associated Press.

Duke opened fire on Bay City Schools Superintendent Bill Husfelt at a school board meeting Tuesday night in Panama City, but nobody was hit. A security officer, Mike Jones, exchanged fire with Duke, wounding him. Duke then fatally shot himself with a 9 mm handgun, the only casualty of the violence, which was caught on videotape.

Before the shooting, Duke painted a red circled "V" on a wall of the room where the meeting was taking place and talked about his wife having been fired.

According to police, Duke's wife had been employed as a teacher by the school district, and her employment had recently been terminated. The couple had been living apart, but it remains unclear what prompted the separation or how long it had been going on, police said.

"I think it's just safe to say at this point that, obviously, Mr. Duke had some mental health issues," Deputy Police Chief Robert Colbert told reporters.

Colbert said authorities have talked to Duke's family members, and that they are "as shocked as everyone else that this had occurred," CNN reported.

The circled "V" Duke painted on a wall is a symbol that had been used in the 1980s book series and the 2006 movie "V for Vendetta."

According to the Internet Movie Database, the film, which takes place in Britain, is about "a freedom fighter known as V [who] uses terrorist tactics to fight the oppressive society."

The "V" image also appears on a Facebook profile believed to have belonged to Duke.

"I know that he had some posting on his Facebook site for 'V for Vendetta,' and, obviously, [there was a] 'V' that was spray-painted at the scene," Colbert said.

Within the biography section of the Facebook page, he wrote a brief manifesto that reads like a suicide note:

"My Testament: Some people (the government sponsored media) will say I was evil, a monster (V)... no... I was just born poor in a country where the Wealthy manipulate, use, abuse, and economically enslave 95% of the population. Rich Republicans, Rich Democrats... same-same... rich... they take turns fleecing us... our few dollars... pyramiding the wealth for themselves. The 95%... the us, in US of A, are the neo slaves of the Global South. Our Masters, the Wealthy, do, as they like to us."

School officials have said they were unaware of the significance of the spray-painting and knew nothing about Duke's grievances.

"He said his wife was fired, but we really don't know what he was talking about," Husfelt told the AP.

Husfelt tried to calm Duke down and begged him not to shoot, but he said he knew things wouldn't end well.

"He decided he was going to die," Husfelt said of Duke. "There's no doubt looking in his eyes that somebody was going to get killed."

Dr. Park Dietz, a psychiatrist and workplace violence expert, agrees with Husfelt's take on the situation and says that Duke had probably been ready to die when he entered the school board meeting.

"Mass murders and attempted mass murders are best understood as angry suicide attempts," Dietz, founder of the Threat Assessment Group, told AOL News. "They are often successful, and 50 percent are dead by the end of the day, either at their own hands or at hands of police in 'suicide by cop.'"

Before opening fire, Duke ordered everyone to leave the room except the men on the school board, who he held at gunpoint. The sole woman on the board, Ginger Littleton, had been ordered to leave but sneaked back in, whacking Duke's gun arm with her large purse. Duke then forced Littleton to the ground but did not shoot her.

"She probably wasn't on his hit list," Dietz said. "He had some specific people he blamed."

Duke then opened fire twice, first at Husfelt, who pleaded, "Please don't," then at the floor. None of the bullets struck the school board members, and Jones, a former police detective, shot Duke in the leg. As Duke collapsed, he fired three more shots, and then fatally shot himself.

Duke was arrested in October 1999 for aggravated stalking, shooting or throwing a missile into a building or vehicle and obstructing justice, the St. Petersburg Times reported.

The charges stemmed from accusations that Duke had been stalking a former girlfriend, Ben Bollinger, the attorney who represented Duke, told The News Herald of Panama City.

Duke, dressed in a bulletproof vest and a mask, allegedly waited outside the girlfriend's home and confronted her with a rifle when she came out. A confrontation ensued and, when she attempted to leave, he shot out the tires of her vehicle, the attorney said.

Duke pleaded no contest to the charges and was sentenced to five years in prison. He was paroled in 2004 but ordered to serve 10 years on probation and was required to complete counseling.

In January 2009, Duke wrote a letter to the judge who had sentenced him in the stalking case. He told Circuit Judge Dedee Costello he was "a mentally ill man who had committed crimes."

He also said he had since been diagnosed with "adult-onset bipolar condition," for which he had received treatment in prison. Duke went on to ask Costello to terminate his probation early, the News Herald reported. The newspaper does not indicate whether the request was granted.
